Determine what the cause is -- improper diet? Spicy foods? Oral health problems? Smoking?

Brushing and flossing are important for removing the food particles that bacteria feed on. Dental devices such as braces, bridges, partials and especially full dentures make oral hygiene extremely important.

Spicy or pungent foods contain sulfites that produce a foul odor. When sulfites linger in the bloodstream and lungs, the odor is exhaled with every breath. Irregularity and/or constipation would suggest an improper diet is causing a sulfite backup.

Sinusitis and tonsilitis produce mucus formation and environmental or food allergies may be involved.

Probiotics and adequate fiber in the diet can help. Eating green vegetables for the chlorophyll content in them can help. There are chlorella, alfalfa and spirulina in liquid form as well as parsley extract available in natural health food stores. Xylitol, a sweetener in natural gums, mints, toothpastes and mouth rinses prevent bacteria from sticking to the mucosa of the mouth and teeth.

It all depends on what the cause is, and the remedy could be simple or complex. Rule out any underlying medical problem first.

That's a great answer! I didn't realize so many things could contribute to bad breath.

Brush her tounge, sides, and roof of the mouth.

he should avoid eating garlic, ginger and spicy food 1 hour before he is going to meet someone. he can chew on fenugreek seeds after meals. he needs to get his gums checked for infections. he can always carry mints or mouthwash with him.

Tell him to brush his teeh every single day, at least 3 minutes each seating. And also, he needs to flosh. Floshing will retain small particles of food from sticking on the gaps of teeth and near it. Last but not last, he got to drink lots of water. Water will stimulate the flow of a person's saliva. Saliva will break down chemicals in the mouth and as a result, give you the best smile/breath you could ever have. My recommendation of water is drink to the point where your pee, or urine, are transparent-like. That indicates that your body is filled with plenty of clean fluids. Repeat those steps daily and you will...I repeat...you will get the best breath of your life!
